Smart Product Merging with Automatic Pricing Transfer

Smart Product Merging with Automatic Pricing Transfer

The Problem

Ever imported sales data from another system only to find it created duplicate products with slightly different names? Maybe you've been selling "Smoky Amber Lager" but your recipes are under "Amber Lager." Now you've got two products—one with all your sales history, pricing, and SKUs, and another with your actual recipes. Manually copying all that pricing data over? Not fun.

The Solution

BarSight's improved Product Merge feature now automatically transfers pricing, SKUs, deposits, and tax codes when you combine products. If the product you're merging into is missing package group data, BarSight intelligently fills it in from the product you're merging from. All your sales history, orders, batches, and inventory get consolidated under one product name.

How to Use It

  1. Navigate to Brewery → Recipes
  2. Click on the product you want to merge from (the one with duplicate/imported data)
  3. In the toolbar, click Merge Product
  4. From the dropdown, select the product you want to merge into (your main product)
  5. Click Merge and confirm the action

What Gets Transferred

When you merge products, BarSight automatically moves:

  • All recipes from the old product
  • All batches and packaged inventory
  • All order history (past orders now reference the correct product)
  • Package group pricing, SKUs, UPCs, deposits, and tax codes (only fills in missing data—won't overwrite existing pricing)

Pro Tip

Before merging, double-check which product has better data. If your imported product has complete pricing but your original product is empty, merge from the imported one into your original. The merge is smart—it only fills empty fields, so existing pricing won't be overwritten.
