We've made some significant improvements to how you configure Tip Setup and Punch Rounding, two areas that affect every pay period.

Tip Setup: New Two-Mode System

The tip configuration has been reorganized into a cleaner two-option setup accessible from Settings → Locations or directly from the Post Hours → Settings panel:

  • No Tip Pooling: Tips stay with individual employees. You control whether tip activity creates cash register transactions (Tips Received and Tipout).

  • Tip Pooling: Tips are pooled and distributed at shift end. When this mode is active, BarSight automatically enforces the correct transaction rules. Tips Received is set to Both, and the Tipout Transaction is disabled since payouts go through the pool.

This removes a common misconfiguration where tip pooling was enabled but transaction settings were still set incorrectly.

Punch Rounding: New Biased Direction

A new Biased (Up In / Down Out) rounding direction is now available under Post Hours Settings in the Rounding Rules section. It rounds punch-in times up to the next interval and punch-out times down to the previous interval, slightly employer-protective on ambiguous punches while still honouring your grace period.

Post Hours: Tip Pool Indicator

The Post Shift form now shows a Tip Pool indicator beside the tip entry fields, so you can see at a glance whether tips entered for this shift will go into the pool.

These changes are live now. If you have questions about your tip or rounding configuration, check the updated documentation in Help → Resources.
