Organize Recipes by Beer Style and Category
The Problem
You've got 50+ recipes in your system. When you want to find "that one pale ale recipe from last summer," you're scrolling through an unsorted list of everything—IPAs, stouts, lagers, sours, all mixed together. Finding the right recipe takes forever, and comparing similar styles (like your three different IPA recipes) requires opening them one by one.
The Solution
BarSight lets you categorize recipes by beer style, category, and custom tags. Group all your IPAs together, separate your lagers from your ales, tag seasonal recipes, and filter your recipe list to find exactly what you need in seconds. Perfect for breweries with extensive recipe libraries or multiple product lines.
How to Use It
- Navigate to Brewery → Products
- Open a recipe you want to categorize
- Find the Recipe Details section
- Set organization fields:
- Beer Style: Select from standard styles (IPA, Pale Ale, Stout, Lager, etc.)
- Category: Broader grouping (Ale, Lager, Sour, Specialty)
- Tags (optional): Custom labels (Seasonal, Core, Experimental, Taproom Only)
- Click Save Recipe
Back on your Products list, use the filter dropdown to view recipes by style or category. All your IPAs in one view, all seasonal recipes together, whatever you need.

Pro Tip
Create a consistent tagging system from the start. Use tags like "Core Year-Round", "Seasonal - Summer", "Limited Release", "Experimental", and "Discontinued" to track recipe status. When planning your brew schedule, filter by "Core Year-Round" to see what needs brewing next.
Learn More
Organized recipes make it easier to copy similar recipes when creating variations. You can also learn how to split batches to test recipe adjustments before committing to full production runs.
