Cash Drawer Reconciliation Made Easy
The Problem
At the end of a busy day, your cash drawer should balance—but it never quite does. You're digging through receipts trying to figure out where the $20 discrepancy came from. There has to be an easier way to track every dollar in and out.
The Solution
BarSight's Cash module tracks your drawer balance in real-time. Every transaction—deposits, withdrawals, loans, tips, and sales—is recorded with timestamps and notes. At the end of the day, you can see exactly where every dollar went.
How It Works
- Navigate to Logbook → Cash
- Review your Current Balance at the top
- Scroll through the transaction timeline to see all activity
- Look for:
- Opening Balance — Your starting float
- Cash Sales — Synced from your POS
- Cash In/Out — Manual transactions
- Tips Out — Tip pool payouts
- Closing Balance — What should be in the drawer
Finding Discrepancies
Count your physical cash and compare it to the Closing Balance. If they don't match, review the transaction timeline. Each entry shows who made it and when—making it easy to spot errors or missing entries.
Pro Tip
Click Sync Sales at the end of each shift to pull in the latest POS data. This ensures your cash sales total matches what actually came through the register.
