Merge Duplicate Customers to Clean Up Your Database

Merge Duplicate Customers to Clean Up Your Database

The Problem

You've got two customer records for "Craft Beer Corner"—one spelled correctly, one as "Craft Ber Corner" from a typo. Each has different orders, different contact info, and different deposit balances. When you need to see their complete order history or track how much beer they've bought this year, you're looking at two incomplete records. Your sales reports are wrong, and your customer data is a mess.

The Solution

The Merge Customers feature combines two customer records into one, consolidating all orders, deposits, contact information, and history. Clean up duplicates created from typos, imports, or manual entry mistakes. Get accurate customer data, correct sales reports, and a single source of truth for every customer relationship.

How to Use It

  1. Navigate to Brewery → Customers
  2. Open one of the duplicate customer records
  3. Click the Edit button or customer menu
  4. Select Merge Customer
  5. Search for and select the duplicate customer record to merge with
  6. Review what will be combined:
    • All orders from both records
    • Deposit balances added together
    • Contact info from the primary record
    • Notes and history combined
  7. Choose which record to keep as the primary
  8. Click Merge Customers

BarSight combines everything into one customer record and archives the duplicate. Your data is clean, complete, and accurate.

Pro Tip

Before merging, double-check you're combining the right customers—this action can't be easily undone. Make sure both records are actually the same customer (check addresses, contact names, order history) before clicking that merge button.
