Configure Day Parts for Your Schedule
The Problem
Your shifts don't fit neat morning/afternoon/evening categories. You have a "Lunch Rush" from 11am-2pm that needs specific staffing, a "Dinner Service" from 5pm-9pm, and a "Late Night" shift from 9pm-close. When you're looking at your schedule, you can't easily see which time blocks are covered and which need more staff. Everything just looks like a bunch of shifts with times.
The Solution
Day Parts let you define custom time blocks that match your actual operations—Brunch, Lunch Rush, Happy Hour, Dinner Service, Late Night, whatever fits your business. Assign shifts to day parts, then view your schedule colored by time period to instantly see staffing coverage. Perfect for restaurants and breweries with distinct service periods that need specific staffing levels.
How to Use It
- Navigate to Schedule → Settings → Day Parts
- Click Create Day Part
- Configure your day part:
- Name: What you call this period (e.g., "Lunch Rush", "Dinner Service")
- Start Time: When it begins (e.g., 11:00am)
- End Time: When it ends (e.g., 2:00pm)
- Color: Pick a color for visual identification
- Click Save Day Part
- Repeat for all your service periods
Now when creating shifts, assign them to day parts. When viewing your schedule, switch to Day Part Colors to see shifts colored by time period instead of role. Instantly identify gaps in coverage during critical service windows.

Pro Tip
Create day parts that match your actual busy periods, not generic morning/afternoon/evening slots. Analyze your sales data to find peak hours, then create day parts around those windows. If your happy hour is 3pm-6pm and gets slammed, make that its own day part with specific staffing requirements.
Learn More
Day parts work great with schedule color switching to visualize time period coverage. You can also use day parts when setting up repeating tasks for shift-specific checklists (e.g., "Lunch Rush Setup Tasks").
