Switch Between Role Colors and Day Part Colors on the Scheduler
The Problem
When you're looking at your schedule, it can be hard to tell what's what at a glance. Are you trying to see which roles are working when? Or do you need to identify your busy time periods like lunch rush or dinner service? The default view shows shifts colored by role, but sometimes you need a different perspective.
The Solution
BarSight lets you switch between two color schemes instantly: Role Colours (shows which position each shift is for) and Day Part Colours (shows which time period each shift falls into). Your preference is saved automatically, so the schedule always displays the way you like it.
How to Use It
- Open any schedule view (Schedule → Create)
- Click the Settings button in the top toolbar
- Choose either:
- Role Colours - Shifts are colored by position (Bartender, Server, Kitchen Staff, etc.)
- Day Part Colours - Shifts are colored by time period (Morning, Lunch, Evening, etc.)
- The page will reload and display shifts in your chosen color scheme

Pro Tip
Use Role Colours when planning coverage to ensure you have the right mix of positions. Switch to Day Part Colours when you're analyzing labor costs or staffing levels during peak hours. Your choice is remembered, so switch as often as you need!
