Using the BarSight Punch Clock App
The Problem
Your employees need a simple way to clock in, clock out, track breaks, record tips, and view their hours—all from their phones. You want accurate timecard data without installing expensive hardware or dealing with paper timesheets.
The Solution
The BarSight mobile app includes a full-featured punch clock that employees can use from any smartphone. Clock in and out with one tap, track multiple breaks, record cash and card tips, add notes, and view complete punch history—all in their pocket.
Getting Started
Download and Login
- Download the BarSight app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android)
- Open the app and tap Login
- Enter your email address and password (same as web login)
- Tap Sign In
Clocking In
- Tap the Clock tab at the bottom
- If you have a shift scheduled, it will appear—tap Clock In on that shift
- If you're working an unscheduled shift, select your role from the list
- Optional: Take a photo for verification (if required by your manager)
- You'll see a confirmation message
Taking Breaks
- While clocked in, tap Start Break
- Select break length: 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes
- When you return, tap End Break
- You can take multiple breaks—each is tracked separately
Note: If you forget to end your break, it automatically ends when you clock out.
Clocking Out
- Tap Clock Out when your shift ends
- Enter your Cash Tips amount
- Enter your Card Tips amount
- Tap Submit to complete your punch
Tip Entry Window: You have 15 minutes after clocking out to edit tip amounts. After that, ask a manager to adjust them.
Viewing Your Hours
- Tap the Schedule tab at the bottom
- See your shifts for the week with punch times
- Tap any shift to view details:
- Clock in/out times
- Total hours worked
- Break time taken
- Tips recorded
- Scroll through the calendar to check past shifts
Adding Notes
Need to explain something about your shift? Tap on a punch and add a note. Example: "Worked kitchen instead of bar" or "Covered for Sarah—she was sick."
Pro Tip
Notice a mistake in your punch times? Take a screenshot and send it to your manager right away. It's much easier to fix timecard errors within a day or two than weeks later when you notice your paycheck is wrong.
