Newsletter vs VIP: Which to Use?
| Feature | Newsletter | VIP Members |
|---|---|---|
| Email collection | Yes | Yes |
| Full address | Optional | Yes |
| Widget form size | Compact | Larger |
| Best for | Quick signups, email blasts | Loyalty programs, Mug Clubs |
Tip: VIP members can automatically be added to your newsletter list when they check the newsletter box—so you don't need to maintain two separate signups.
Tips and Best Practices
- Place it prominently - Add the widget to your footer, homepage, or a popup for maximum signups
- Keep it simple - The newsletter widget's compact size makes it less intimidating than a full contact form
- Set expectations - Tell visitors what they'll receive: "Get notified about new releases and taproom events"
- Export regularly - Download your list monthly to sync with your email marketing platform
- Use both lists together - Newsletter for casual followers, VIP for your most engaged customers
