Control Which Notifications You Receive

Control Which Notifications You Receive

The Problem

You're getting bombarded with emails every time someone posts on the forums, but you're missing critical notifications about shift changes. Or maybe you want shift reminders on your phone but don't need email updates. Everyone's notification needs are different, but you're stuck with the default settings for everything.

The Solution

BarSight lets you customize exactly which notifications you receive via email and when you get shift reminders on your phone. Want shift updates but not forum posts? No problem. Prefer a 2-hour heads-up before your shift starts? You got it. Fine-tune your notification preferences so you only get what matters to you.

How to Use It

  1. Navigate to Account → My Profile
  2. Scroll to the Communication Settings section
  3. Check or uncheck Send Email Notifications to enable/disable all email alerts
  4. In the Types of Notifications section, select which notifications you want:
    • Scheduled Shifts - When your schedule is published or changed
    • Shift Trades and Pickups - Available shifts and trade requests
    • Timeoff and Availability - Status updates on your requests
    • Training - New and overdue training modules
    • Shift Tasks - Tasks assigned to your shifts
    • Messages - Direct messages from managers and coworkers
    • Community Forums - New forum threads and replies
    • Account Updates - Profile, password, or email changes
    • Requests - (Managers only) Actions requiring approval
    • Integrations - Alerts from API integrations
    • System - Critical messages from BarSight
  5. In the App Push Notifications section, set your Shift Reminders timing (30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, etc., or Never)
  6. Click Save Profile at the bottom

Pro Tip

Leave System notifications enabled—these are critical messages from BarSight that may need your attention. And if you're a manager, keep Requests enabled so you don't miss approval notifications for timeoff, shift trades, or availability changes.
