Use Task Comments to Document Issues and Keep Your Team in the Loop
The Problem
Your employee can't complete a task because the equipment is broken, supplies are missing, or they're waiting on approval. They leave the task incomplete, but you have no idea why. When you check later, you just see "not done" with zero context. What happened? Why didn't they finish? You're left guessing and chasing down answers.
The Solution
Task comments let employees (and managers) add notes directly to tasks. "Couldn't complete—espresso machine broken, notified manager." Now you know exactly what happened, who was involved, and when the issue occurred. Perfect for accountability and communication without extra text messages or emails.
How to Use It
- Open the task detail view by clicking on any task
- Scroll to the Comments section at the bottom
- Click + Add Comment
- Type your note explaining:
- Issues encountered: "Keg lines need cleaning before I can stock taps"
- Completion notes: "All done, no problems found"
- Status updates: "Waiting on supply delivery to finish inventory count"
- Click Save Comment
Comments display with the employee's name and timestamp. Everyone assigned to the task can see all comments, creating a complete communication thread.

Pro Tip
Encourage employees to add comments before leaving tasks incomplete. A quick "Equipment broken, manager notified" is way more helpful than radio silence. It shows they attempted the task and communicated the issue professionally.
