Delivery Areas vs Regions: Put Every Order on the Right Run
One powerful feature at a time.
Delivery Areas vs Regions: Put Every Order on the Right Run
The Problem
Your Maple Ridge customers get beer on the Valley run on Tuesdays and on the Tricity run on Fridays. With one "delivery area" per customer, you either pick a run and get it wrong half the time, or you keep making day-named areas like "Alex - Tuesday" and moving customers between them.
The Solution
BarSight now splits this into two things. A region is where the customer is and never changes. A delivery area is a run on set days that covers a list of regions. Each order lands in the right run automatically, based on the customer's region and the delivery date.
How to Use It
- Go to Brewery → Deliveries and click Settings.
- In the Regions box, click Add Region for each area you serve, such as
Fraser Valley,Maple RidgeandCoquitlam. - In the Delivery Areas box, click Add Area. Name it
Valley, tick Tuesday and Thursday, then tick Fraser Valley and Maple Ridge. - Add
Tricityon Wednesday and Friday with Coquitlam and Maple Ridge. Pick a Default Driver for each run if the same person usually drives it. - Give each customer a Region on their customer form, or tick several on the Customers list and use Bulk Actions → Switch Region.
A region can be in more than one area, but only one area per day. Try to add Tuesday to Tricity and BarSight stops you: Maple Ridge is already scheduled on Tuesday in Valley.

Pro Tip
On the order form, change the Delivery Date and the Delivery Area, and the run's default driver, fill in right away. Hover the help icon next to Delivery Area to see every day the customer's region is delivered. If it says Not delivered on Mondays in red, pick one of those days instead. Orders that don't fit any run show under Not Scheduled on the board, so nothing slips through.
