Flexible Availability Matching

One powerful feature at a time.

Flexible Availability Matching

The Problem

An employee selects "PM Shift" (12:00 PM - 8:00 PM) as their availability, but when you try to assign them to a 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM shift, they don't show up in the available list. The shift starts well within their availability window, but because it ends after 8:00 PM, BarSight considers them unavailable.

The Solution

Flexible Availability is a new location setting that changes how BarSight matches employees to shifts. When enabled, only the shift start time needs to fall within the employee's availability window. If the shift starts during their available hours, they'll show up as available.

How It Works

  • Default (Off): The entire shift must fit within the employee's availability. A 6 PM - 10 PM shift requires availability that covers all the way to 10 PM.
  • Flexible (On): Only the shift start time matters. If the shift starts at 6 PM and the employee is available from 12 PM - 8 PM, they'll appear in the available list.

How to Enable It

  1. Go to Settings → Locations
  2. Edit your location
  3. Scroll to the Scheduling section under Shift Length and Overtime
  4. Check Flexible Availability
  5. Save your changes

Pro Tip

This setting also applies to schedule validation. When flexible availability is on, publishing a schedule won't flag warnings for employees whose shift runs past their stated availability end time, as long as the shift started within their window.
