Keep Guests in the Loop with Waitlist Position Updates

The Problem

When guests join your waitlist they often have no idea how long they'll be waiting — so they keep coming back to the host stand to ask. It breaks the host's flow, and it makes the guest experience feel uncertain. The solution isn't more staff; it's more communication.

The Solution

BarSight can automatically text waiting guests their current position in line whenever the queue moves. Every time a party gets seated, the guests still waiting receive an SMS telling them exactly where they stand — no guessing, no hovering at the host stand.

How to Set It Up

1. Go to Guests → Settings
2. Open the Waitlist Notifications section
3. Under Queue Position Updates, choose how often guests should receive updates: every 15, 30, or 45 minutes, every hour, or turn it off entirely
4. Click Save

What the Guest Receives

The message automatically includes the guest's first name, their current position number, and your venue name. If estimated wait times are enabled, the approximate wait is included too.

Pro Tip

Setting updates to Every 30 Minutes is a good starting point — frequent enough to feel attentive, but not so often that it feels like spam. Guests who joined a long queue will especially appreciate knowing they're moving up.

Requirements

Queue position SMS requires the SMS add-on to be active on your account and a phone number on file for the guest.
